Dedicated to the memory of Ann Earle

Ann was born in Salford in March 1939 and had the happiest childhood with her “Mam and Dad” Eleanor and George Dawson, and her devoted brother Tony who’s memories of their childhood were always talked of with such love by Ann.

It was in Salford that Ann met Paul, the love of her life; they married in September 1960 and have had a love affair with each other ever since, their marriage has been an inspiration to so many that knew them.

When Ann left school she trained as a hairdresser and had her own salon in Manchester. She was a wonderful friend to all that were lucky enough to know her.  She later became a landlady at The Roach Bank Inn in Whitfield, The Shoulder of Mutton in Ramsbottom and the Inn at Burnley Wharf in Burnley.  She was loved as a landlady and was everyone's friend, always on hand to listen and give advice, she touched everyone's lives with her vivacious personality and her love of life. Ann was also a wonderful poet, which many people did not know, she had many of her poems published, which the family will have as memories to keep forever.

Ann and Paul have three children; Simon, Phillipa and Georgina, whom she loved endlessly and was so devoted to them growing up and proud of what they have all achieved in their lives. She will leave a void in their hearts that cannot be filled.

Ann was also blessed with seven wonderful grandchildren who have all brought so much light, laughter and pride into her life; Scott, Jonathan, Ellie, Josh, Amy, Rebecca and Lucas and not forgetting her wonderful great grandchildren, who brought so much joy and happiness; Ahria and Teddy!

Ann was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and Dementia in 2010, and over the last 3 months Ann developed several severe infections, which sadly Paul was told there was nothing more that could be done for his wife.  Ann was fortunate to come home on a Fastrack by the NHS to pass away with her family and friends around her. The family were lucky enough to spend 3 special weeks with her.

The family would like to say a huge thank you to the Haslingden community nurses and the McMillan nurses, especially Maria and Claire who looked after Ann and supported the family at her home in her final weeks and days. Without their amazing work and kindness the family could not have gotten through those week.
